A Duty to the Dead by Charles ToddThe first in a new series about a WWI English army nurse, Bess Crawford. After narrowly escaping the sinking of her hospital ship off the coast of Greece, Bess sets out to deliver a message from a dying soldier to his family. Thus begins a tale of family intrigue and small village secrets. Bess is a compassionate, intelligent, and very persistent heroine. I will look forward to reading the next in this series.
